What do you call...

What do you call a person that makes fancy high end clothes? So far I have come up with Taylor, Seamstress and Clothier... is there something else/better?

I'd probably prefer a tailor to a Taylor - unless Taylor was a tailor.

For high end stuff you probably need to specify whether it's for women or men. For example dressmaker or couturier is for women, whereas a tailor is usually for men.

Yea was hoping for something cooler sounding. "The Tailor Consortium" I guess works but lacks that other worldly cool factor.

Haute Couture? Although it refers mainly to dressmaking, I think. Tailor is masculine, as gmw said.

How about "The Tailor Made Consortium"?

If you are writing books, a good reference to have on hand would be a guide to synonyms, antonyms. There are also websites such as Merriam Webster that will give you information. The internet is a limitless source....free for the searching most of the time...

Interesting. I thought Fashionista was more a description of people who kept up with high fashion. The references you give here tell a different tale.

Another word for a high-end tailor would be "Bespoke", meaning made-to-measure, but don't think that would work in what you are looking for.

Yeah, all these words sound to mundane. I think will have to make a word up. Being that it will be used as a title, I can get away with that, so long as I explain it at first use. Thanks for the help though!
