Unhappy Chicagoland Area Book Rescuer's Needed!

I'm being required to dispose of the majority of my old-fashioned books by a sister who count's them as a fire hazard. Most are paperbacks stored in a single layer in easy to handle boxes used for meal delivery, primarily Romance & SF/F.

If anyone cares to arrange to stop by my house and make a selection of a box or more, contact me for further details

Oh man, that's so sad. Places near where I live that take books are weird, the library is hard to donate to, but places like waiting rooms and the hospital take nearly anything.

Used stores here will take paperbacks (but no hardcovers, if the paperback is out).

Nursing homes are another good place to donate - there are always volunteer readers that visit (or visitors that need something to read).

If you don't get any bites, can you find a link to a local Freecycle? There you announce you have stuff to give away, and people who want it arrange to come and pick it up.

The hospital I work in just sent out an email asking all employees to donate books for the patient book-cart service. Hospitals in your area probably have a similar need.

“How to Write the First 3 Paragraphs of YOUR Indie Novel” - by Max Waxwelp
1) Always write 3 sentences of exposition; 2) now create some dialogue, preferably no more than 2 sentences; and 3) make certain the dialogue is either inane or humorous. Example:
“Bob, I did not know you wore yellow suspenders,” Sally remarked.
“Gee, Sally, those are not suspenders. I am wearing yellow underwear today,” Bob revealed.

The dialogue above will help produce at least 100 more pages of dialogue.
