Question about Amazon's best seller lists
I am writing my first novel, which I intend to make available as a print book on Amazon, and as an eBook at the usual places.

I am sure that I will want to know the highest ranking it achieves.

Is this something that Amazon will notify me of?

Amazon won't notify you, but you can use a service like NovelRank, which tracks the Amazon sales rank. It will also try to estimate the number of sales based on the rank, but if it's your book, you'll have exact information on sales from Amazon, so you can ignore NovelRank's estimates.
