The Cookie Book - Make Your Own Cookies Easily [Kindle Edition] Poorna Banerjee (Author), Cooking Penguin (Author)

http://www.amazon.com/The-Cookie-Boo...s_154606011_76

Publication Date: August 31, 2012
What’s not to like about a cookie? They are not just great to eat but can be made easily and stored for days! People say, baking cookies is possibly one of the most relaxing and loving thing to do, and at the end of the exercise, you would have a delicious dessert that can double up as your breakfast, snack, or even midnight bite.

In this book, forty scrumptious recipes for cookies of all kinds are presented, and careful detailing makes the recipes not just easy to follow, but delicious too! Baking was never this much fun, or delicious, and all you’d need to find perhaps would be a glass of cold milk to accompany the decadent desserts. The recipes are diverse, from simple cookies, to no-bake ones, to cookies which are traditional, right to the unusual, but tasty ones, this book has it all!

Gleefully Gluten-Free (Healthy Desserts & Snacks) [Kindle Edition]
Ruth Naylor (Author)

http://www.amazon.com/Gleefully-Glut...s_154606011_78

The #1 Best Seller in Desserts!

Here's what people are saying about Gleefully Gluten-Free!

*** "THIS is a cookbook that could make "healthy" and "gluten-free" go mainstream."

*** "After trying some of the recipes in this cookbook, I am convinced that you can make delicious, healthful treats!"

*** "Gleefully Gluten-Free gives you a taste of decadence without the feelings of guilt!"

After years of struggling with bloat, sluggishness and irritability, Ruth Naylor finally discovered that she, like many other people, was gluten intolerant. She didn't like the idea of never again eating her favorite foods, so she went to work researching the best possible substitutes, without all the unhealthy ingredients!

Give this sample a try! (this is one of Ruth's favorites!)

Cherry Chocolate Cheesecake (raw)

½ cup almonds (soaked overnight in water)
½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/8 tsp sea salt
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp raw cacao powder
2 Tbsp agave or raw honey
2 Tbsp cacao nibs
Filling:
2 cups cashews (soaked for at least 1 hour)
¼ cup agave or raw honey
¼ cup pure maple syrup
¼ cup water
¼ cup cacao butter, melted
¼ cup coconut butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp sea salt
1 cup raw cacao powder
1 cup frozen or fresh cherries (regular or tart, thawed)
Sauce:
2 cups frozen berries (cherries would be best but any berry will do!)
¼ cup agave or raw honey
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

In a food processor combine almonds, coconut, salt, vanilla extract and cacao powder; pulse until crumbly. Add agave and cacao nibs; pulse until mixture comes together. Press into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Using the same food processor, combine all filling ingredients except for cherries; process until completely smooth. Add the cherries and pulse until just incorporated. Pour over the crust and chill or freeze until ready to serve. For the sauce, blend all ingredients together until smooth. Drizzle over each cheesecake slice.
Serves 8 – 10

As you can see, you can still eat CHEESECAKE! And not only is it incredibly delicious, but nutritious as well. Make this complimentary recipe for your friends and family and see if they can tell the difference, (betcha they CAN'T)! Then come on back and see what other Gleefully Gluten-Free recipes there is in store for you!

Other recipes include:

*(Raw)Coconut Mango Balls
*Easy Salted Maple Caramel Corn
*Chocolate Almond Power Bar
*Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream
*German Chocolate Cake
*Spicy Kale Chips
*Loaded Oatmeal Cookies
*Healthy Fudgesicles
*Chilled Double Chocolate Torte
*Almond Date Orange Cake

And many more...

Let Ruth take you on her personal journey from feeling sick and discouraged, to finding a better way to eat, and loving every minute! Gleefully Gluten-Free will prove to you that there's life beyond gluten sensitivity!

(Cookbook/Memoir - 67k words. NOW WITH INTERACTIVE TABLE OF CONTENTS. Please note: the Kindle version of this book contains all of the text and recipes that are in the print version but does not contain all of the family photographs. Please note, this is a FAMILY cookbook with recipes contributed by many people. No guarantees are made.) In this combination memoir and family cookbook blogger and novelist Kathleen Valentine combines 30 posts from her blog with nearly 400 recipes collected from family and friends. Growing up in a "mostly Pennsylvania Dutch" family she collected and recorded recipes from grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, cousins, friends, etc. which were combined in the first Valentine Family & Friends Cookbook published in 1981.

This was expanded in the 1992 edition and now, in this third edition, nearly 400 recipes combine with essays recording memories of growing up in rural Pennsylvania and photographs from six generations. Essays topics include making sauerkraut and soltz (a German pickled meat loaf), toasting marshmallows and catching fireflies, the old-country Christmas traditions of making stollen and visits from Belsnickle, old world ghost stories, their grandmother's quilts, and more.

Traditional family recipes include schmarn, panhaas, moultasha, a variety of sausage recipes, hassenpfeffer, and liver dumplings, a wide variety of pickles and relishes, as well as keuchels (a type of fried dough), apple dumplings, and rhubarb crisps and pies. Contemporary recipes from the younger generations of the Valentine family expand the collection with everything from dips and cocktails to chowders, cakes and cookies. Among the more popular recipes first featured on Valentine's blog are three maple syrup pies, an apricot-apple crisp with maple cream, caramel peachy-pear pandowdy, a honey & white peach pie, and her own Pennsylvania Dutch hot and sour soup.

Though this collection is a memoir in food of the Valentine family it could be the story of any first, second and third generation immigrant family.

From the book: "Most Pennsylvania Dutch families evolved from immigrants who were peasants in "the Old Country". They learned, out of necessity, to use everything they could to feed their families and they devised ways of preserving those things through the long, harsh winters. Pickling, preserving, smoking, canning were necessary to get a large family through the bitterly cold winter months. As I worked on this cookbook I was continually aware of how so much of the food that was part of family tradition was also making good use of commonly available food sources that were abundant and cheap. My Gram Werner used to say that the reason pigs were so valuable was because you could use every part of them except the squeak. In the cold hill country of Pennsylvania maple trees grew in such abundance, that maple syrup was a frequently used sweetener. Cows were kept for milk, cream, butter, cheese and sour cream. When I read these recipes now some seem so rich and loaded with calories but back then people needed those rich, calorie-laden foods to see them through long days in the fields or the factories or lumbering in the forests."

It happened to me and I'm sure it's happened to you too. I became bored cooking the same things the same way every night. And I was concerned that the way I prepared my meals wasn't providing me or my family with enough nutrients to help ensure our good health.

All that changed when my friend recommended that I start using a slow cooker.

I love my slow cooker. It's a unique way to prepare meals. Slow cooking is not as fast as pressure cooking. The food simmers for hours, slowly enhancing every last bit of flavor possible. The results are terrific -- a delicious, even distribution of flavors throughout your dish. And it requires such little effort.

In fact, I came to love slow cooking so much, I was inspired to write Slow Cooker Superfood Recipes (Healthy Eats).

Slow cooking is convenient and easy.* Everything goes into the pot at the same time. All you need to do is prepare your ingredients beforehand, pop them in, set the dial, and free up time to do whatever you want until your slow-cooked meal is ready to serve. How simple is that?

Here's the other great thing about slow cooking and my book, Slow Cooker Superfood Recipes: It's an incredible way to deliciously introduce superfoods into your diet

My collection of 53 Slow Cooker Superfood recipes covers the full spectrum of superfood dishes, including:
Meat
Poultry
Vegetarian
Seafood
Soups
Side Dishes
Snacks

These are the same recipes that I've prepared in our test kitchen. I chose them for this book because they are easy to prepare, bursting with flavor and packed with nutrients to keep you and your family healthy.

I hope you become as inspired while reading this book and trying my recipes as I was while writing it.

To delicious eating and your good health!
