I think the piece in NY Daily News captures the book well. I loved it, if such a word can be used about a book such as this, but then I've loved most everything that Hitchens ever wrote, so I'm likely biased. Still, I've always immensely appreciated Hitchens' incomparable ability to capture life and death, warts and all, with brutal honesty and without the slightest measure of sentimentality. Others may prefer their strychnine laced with fruit juice, but I like mine neat.

So: it's certainly not a book which everyone will love, or enjoy, or even manage to finish, but in many ways that's the essence of Hitchens' authorship.
