A fascinating read, I loved his examples and his ideas of how the "cover" could be integrated through ebooks. Thanks for the link.

Didn't make it very far through that article. I expect it's more efficient for me to simply disagree with him regardless of his point, rather than plow through the article and end up hating him because of the way he makes it.

The major points of the article are that covers need to evolve to the digital space, as they are now in general smaller and simpler, displayed on screens as opposed to shelves, no longer required as a dust jacket, and can be altered as often as desired. All valid points, I think.

I glanced through the article again, and I reiterate that it has some good points. I've already accommodated my covers to the thumbnail aspect, making sure they are legible at smaller sizes. I haven't given up on the traditional book dimensions, if for no other reason than that those dimensions evoke a book to most people, and I want the public to immediately know what I'm offering.

It's funny, though: I'm so used to seeing more text on most covers (the tiny promotional lines, the imprint logos, the price listing, etc) that covers without them often seem... lacking. Like they are not true book covers at all. I suppose that will take further getting used to.

Duck for cover just can't be wrong
