From the "It's not funny, but..." Department:

There's nothing funny about terrorism, but I couldn't help but smile when I heard this a few minutes ago while listening to the news on NPR. What a mind-picture. Quoted from memory:

"Officials are saying that Al-Queda might abandon underwear bombs altogether now that security experts are all over them."

Has anyone else heard or seen a quote or headline recently on the news that didn't sound quite right?

Just a few nights ago a local newscast had an "up next" quick-headline list that went something like:

"Up next, local policeman arrests man in a clown suit."
"Up next, local business selling raffle tickets for girl scouts."
And so on.

At each quote, I looked at my wife and Groucho Marx'ed, "What was the officer doing in a clown suit?", "Do you think that business is giving away boy scouts next week?", etc.
