London Town
Outside British Museum I haven't made any plans. He has never been there, but I would still like to do something "different", not Madame Tussuad's etc. Any ideas or suggestions? May 9 to 12.

Yes, I haven't been in the London Eye, that would certainly be worth a trip.
South Bank? I assume that means the south bank of Thames? Has it changed in some major way? haven't been to London in 18 years. Tate Modern and Tea at the Ritz is already part of my London experience. But I have been told that there are many riverboats on the Thames these days so that could be worth a few hours.

I would definitely visit the Natural History Museum if you get the chance. Also:
-Tower of London (Crown Jewels etc.) -Hampton Court (the Maze!) -The interactive London Bridge Experience (takes you back in time to tell the story of the bridge and life around it) - The British Music Experience (a new interactive museum dedicated to the last 60 years of British popular music). |

Covent Garden
Camden Lock British Library Somerset House and Courtauld Gallery South Bank has changed quite a bit, London Eye, Aquarium plus a few nice eateries. You can also try things like a Ripper Walk through Whitechapel and Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood if your venturing East.

I'm staying in High Street close to the new Olympic area. I'm thinking of going on a walkabout in that area if it is accessible (maybe they keep it on lockdown until the Olympic starts, al-Quada and all that).
The British Music experience sounds QI, where is it located? I fly into Stansted and the first thing I'll get is an Oyster card to get around. Really appreciate all the tips. Hopeing to avoid all the obvious tourist traps, have already done those.

How about the Imperial War Museum and/or the Cabinet War Rooms?

The Cabinet War Rooms sounds interesting. Have to look into that. Didn't know they maintained those. The smell of Churchill's cigars would be worth the entrance fee alone.

I wouldn't try and do too much. Seeing 2 or 3 things properly in a day is, IMHO, much better than rushing around and catching a glimpse of half a dozen. You'll need at least half a day to do anything like justice to the British Museum. I'd suggest trying to be there for when it opens at 10am. Try NOT to go on a Sunday. That's when it's the most crowded.

Thursday through Saturday.
And yes, my intention is to do one in the morning and one in the afternoon. With a nice pub in between.

Very wise
. I recently spent a whole weekend at the British Museum and probably saw about half of it (hence my personal experience of the crowds on the Sunday!). Wonderful place. My favourites are the Egyptian and Assyrian collections.
