That's pretty cool. I'd love to test that video on my Kindle 3. Would it work on this version of the Kindle too? Not necessarily for any other reason than to show people that my Kindle can play movies. Hehe.

Regardless, I can see how much better a potential video game could play using the screen refresh/update settings from that.

The K3 uses the same screen so it should be possible. The framerates I posted (to which this video player seems to be following) were tested on the K3.

Of course, the dithered-video drivers used in this video player were tuned for the touch, but they should be adaptable to the K3, and useable in video games.

I couldn't find any suitable ROM files for the gameboy emulator running on Kindle Touch.
Even that Tetris.rom says

It is not a ROM file issue, but the fact that you are running a 4 BPP program for the K3 on an 8 BPP framebuffer in the Touch.

You need a version of gnuboy ported to the touch, with changes to support eh 8 BPP framebuffer.

The archive in the OP also contains a readily compiled version. I was just too lazy to separate sources and the binary, and it's quite small anyway.

Hi Hawhill,

This is a great application and my son loves it.

I wrote a little script to do ls of the installed roms on the screen and asks the user to type in the ROM to load (with geekmaster's keyboard input program).

Have you made the version with the 3x pixel size increase?

Also, have you gotten sound to work?

As it is now: you don't. You just copy over the fbgnuboy binary over to your Kindle and somehow manage to run it - e.g. by using a custom launchpad configuration, by using a terminal like myts etc.

It does not have any UI interfacing (yet).
