Works fine for me as well.
Bad formatting or write protection on the SD card? Hidden files? By system you mean the linux system, what does 'df -h' say for the mounted device? Cause if df says it's full, then it's actually full, has nothing whatsoever to do with the device at that point. |

Yes there was. 441 KB, so small. No idea what was added or changed. Nothing obvious.

Thanks for posting this, I also just updated after reading your posts. And didn't see any obvious changes. I then went to their website and there wasn't any new updates listed on there either.

We're lucky if there was a minor bugfix in it; the update doesn't contain any files related to the major functionaly such as the bookreading app.

It would be nice if they could at least post what these updates are for. I'm always afraid I'll brick my HD when the firmware updates.

I don't know if there'll ever be another firmware update for US/DE, but owners of the korean device can look forward to a miniature update (1.30->1.32 for the Story K HD Wifi). So iriver's not dead completely yet...

Maybe not, but the hammer is in the down swing on the last nail.

seems like I joined the party too late only to find it to be a funeral party.
anyway, I don't care for updates. As long as the hardware continues working, I'm fine with it. A fine e-reader. cheers |

There's an 1.33 (eng/aus) on the radar now.
It adds this message: "We encourage you to make your purchases of eBooks from the Google Play store at play.google.com/store/books You will be able to read anybooks you purchases through Google Play on your Story HD device." Heh. Anyone ever buy books through Google for the Story HD? Not me. So yay. The "browse more at google ebookstore" may be replaced with a "sign in with your google account", at least there are changed welcome screens which show that. Purchase books from Google play on your computer, refresh your library on your device. Whatever. In the language file they also added a <opt_page_display_on>Page Display On</opt_page_display_on> and same for page_display_off, but as of now this seems to be a dud as it's not referenced anywhere. I would be more than happy to see such an option, but as of now it's not in there as far as I can tell. Still it's amazing to see that someone at iriver is still doing something. |

1.32 is running stably on my device. I really like the layout of everything. The reading page is blank except for a status bar that briefly appears at the bottom of a newly turned page, then disappears. No annoying page numbers, ect. Unless I find out that 1.33 does something amazing (like enables me to save eBooks to my device instead of loading them via an SD card), I will be sticking with 1.32.
The iRiver Story HD is a great device. I actually prefer it to my Kindle 3 and newer devices. I would like better dictionary and highlighting functionality though. Last edited by Isles8008; 12-18-2012 at 07:54 AM. |

It seems to be released now, if anyone dares to update, let me know if my earlier analysis was correct.
Oh, it also added support for Norsk language. Fancy that |

I'm running 1.33 now. As far as I can tell the only thing it changed is the addition of a pop-up screen with a shopping cart icon that appears when you navigate to the Google book store. The message is the same as before, instructing you to got to Google Play on your computer to purchase books and that they will be available on your device. So same message as 1.32 but in a pop up window instead of a text page.
Not sure why they bothered. |

So there is no page number off setting after all?
Even though they added a string for it to the language files Oh well maybe next year. |
