Fernie, W T: Herbal Simples, v.1, 22 Nov 2007.
By W. T. Fernie, M.D. Author of “Botanical Outlines,” etc.
Second Edition. Philadelphia: Boericke & Tafel. 1897.
A book of herbal lore and herbal remedies.
The author has a strange habit of translating old proverbs into Latin verse. The entry on ‘Dandelion’ also discusses the medicinal use of eggs and quotes ‘Humpty Dumpty’ in Latin.
If you are planning to try the remedies then it would be prudent to take professional advice on their safety and side-effects, unless you know what you are doing.
Depending on where you live, it may be illegal to make up the poppy-based preparations.
Of making many books there is no end [Ecclesiastes, 12.12]
