Exclamation Can't open images in new Kindle Touch

I have the new Kindle touch (that's Kindle 4, right?). Anyway I can't get it to display images. I tried making a folder called pictures and putting them inside it, I also tried making a subfolder in documents, and even zipping the files. They're .png pictures.

Any ideas? Oh, and it's a manga, I converted them using mangle.

Unlike the K3, the KT doesn't have a picture viewer. You need to convert your pictures into a book - eg with Calibre.

You have 2 choices for conversion: mobi, or PDF. For the former you can use Personal Documents service: send a .zip archive with the images in it (or use calibre). For the latter, you need a tool that can put the images in a PDF container (I use Acrobat, since I happen have that, but I'm sure there are free tools for this as well, calibre probably does it for example).

The advantage of using PDF is that you can zoom in to full resolution and pan. With mobi, you can zoom, but only to 'full screen' (800x600).

I've always wondered why someone doesn't do a 'slideshow' app for Kindle. They'd be able to build in functionality that was not in the 'experimental' viewer, etc. But since you could actually use that to read manga/comics, it probably violates the developer terms in some way.

Convert them using Mangle, select CBZ only, export, and import the CBZ file(s) onto calibre. Send it to your device and it'll ask you if you want to convert it to a compatible format (MOBI). Select yes, wait some minutes, and you're done.
A warning, though: Mangle apparently hasn't been upgraded for the Kindle Touch, so the images are "squashed" on the top and bottom.

Ahhh, I see. Thank you for the replies. That's a bit unfortunate. I'll stick to reading books for now (and maybe give a couple of the methods here a try for the hell of it).

Can't wait to get a tablet, to really take care of reading comics properly.

The method I described works perfectly well, though!
