You know you're getting older when you remember when...
- Scooby Doo was a brand new show. - Your cable converter box came with a corded remote control and a maximum of 36 channels. - MTv ran nothing but music videos. - Music only came in the following formats: LP, 45, cassette, and 8-track tapes. - Portable music meant a pocket AM radio. - Star Wars was only one movie and Darth Vader was just a villain. - Comic books used to cost 25 cents. - You had to watch a show when it was first broadcast, or wait months to see it...if you were lucky. |

And Coke came in a 6-oz. bottle and cost a nickel. And a McDonald's burger cost 16 cents. |

The person you are talking to wasn't alive for the moon landings (and neither were their parents)
'The War' was the one we had with Japan and Germany (bonus points if it was with Turkey and Germany!) You remember when phones all had cords, every single one. And the phone line was shared with half a dozen other households. Cameras had film. The Daleks were really, really scary. Oh, wait... Last edited by Roger Parkinson; 12-28-2011 at 01:30 AM. |

you wear teenage mutant ninja turtles, ALF or atari t-shirts not to be trendy or ironic but because you fondly remember when they were new releases.
when you start turning the music down or in my case when heavy metal started getting "too heavy" when you watch the news and start pontificating like archie bunker the first time you say something was better when you were a kid |

So the last surviving major cast member of the old (Johnny Weissmuller) Tarzan movies has died.
Cheetah Dead: Chimpanzee Sidekick From 1930s Tarzan Flicks Dies At 80 You know that you are getting old when you recall Saturday mornings being given over to watching those old (1930s) Tarzan films on a black&white television. Cheetah was preceded in death by Tarzan, Jane, and boy. So anyway Cheetah apparently had a long contented life with his main hobbies being finger painting and throwing feces when people pissed him off. Wish I could get away with that. Maybe when the dementia sets in? Of course I could start faking that right now when it suits me. Last edited by Hamlet53; 12-28-2011 at 09:47 AM. |

When the only time people don't give you blank looks when you mention the shows and cartoons you grew up with as a kid... is when they've been remade by computer animation studios.
(My wife completely perplexed her office-mates when she mentioned The Banana Splits... they looked it up on YouTube, and were worthless hyenas for the rest of the day.) |

You know you've gotten old when people post about how they know they're getting older, and their reasons prove that they're mere children.

When you mention doing something you've done for years, or wanted to do for years, and hear, "Don't you think you're a little too old for that?" (Happened to me last year)
When you're dancing at a party, and someone looks at you and says, "I haven't seen that step in ages!" (Happened to me this year) |
