Goal: To read (and complete) 52 books in 2012

Goal is 52 books for the year so 1 a week.

No real goals for particular styles or authors, just whatever interests me at the time.

I do want to focus on starting and finishing a book though. I'm pretty picky and have a short attention span so that led to more books being started but not finished last year. I'll only give up a book if I really have to this year ... I hope at least.

Have fun and good luck on all on the challenge.

Goal : Beat the 60 I read last year.

ok, last year i kept track in the "read 100 books ..." thread. i made it to 60. most were re-reads. this year, i will be happy to hit 80.

same format as last year, no ratings or anything.

legend: r = reread, n = new, a = audiobook, p = dead trees

1. Prince of Chaos - Roger Zelazny (r)
2. Eragon - Christopher Paolini (r)
3. Eldest - Christopher Paolini (r)
4. Phule's Company - R L Asprin (r)
5. Brisingr - Christopher Paolini (n)
6. Inheritance - Christpher Paolini (n)
7. Phule's Paradise - R L Asprin (r)
8. A Phule and his Money - Asprin & Heck (n)
9. Phule me Twice - Asprin & Heck (n)
10. No Phule Like an Old Phule - Asprin & Heck (n)
11. Phule's Errand - Asprin & Heck (n)
12. Game of Thrones - Martin (n)
13. Clash of Kings - Martin (n)
14. Storm of Swords - Martin (n)
15. Feast for Crows Martin (n)
16. Jhereg (1983) - Brust (r)
17. Yendi (1984) - Brust (r)
18. Teckla (1987) - Brust (r)
19. Taltos (1988) - Brust (r)
20. Phoenix (1990) - Brust (r)
21. Athyra (1993) - Brust (n)
22. Orca (1996) - Brust (n)
23. Dragon (1998) - Brust (n)
24. Issola (2001) - Brust (n)
25. Dzur (2006) - Brust (n)
26. Jhegaala (2008) - Brust (n)
27. Iorich (2010) - Brust (n)

Expect to see above:
Heinlein
George RR Martin
Paolini (need to re-read the first 3, then the new one)
maybe Goodkind. maybe.
definately Brust. i have been putting off the Taltos books too long.

----------
update
----------

new position at work has really cramped the reading time ... if i am really lucky i can get 30-45 minutes in at lunch ... if i hit 40 this year it will be a miracle.

1. Finish unread books / 2. Read more stand-alone Fantasy / 3. Get into Hist-Fic

I have three main goals:

1. Finally get around to reading the books that I bought ages ago and are currently gathering dust on my shelf. This includes The Dragonbone Chair and The War of the Flowers by Tad Williams, The Sum of All Men by David Farland, and books 2 and 3 of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R. Donaldson. I actually started the latter, but gave up a hundred or so pages in.

2. My second goal is to read more stand-alone Fantasy. I've noticed most of my reading tends to be series, as I like revisiting characters and worlds that I enjoyed. But this does mean I am missing out on some good stand-alone novels by the likes of Guy Gavriel Kay, Neil Gaiman, etc. I intend to correct that in this year.

3. Finally, I want to read more novels outside of the Fantasy genre. I got sucked into the world of Speculative Fiction about 3 years ago, and my reading since has been almost exclusively Fantasy, and I feel I should branch out. In particular, I want to venture into the world of Historical Fiction, as I've heard a lot about the genre.

Goal: To read 52 novels in 2012

I'm a pretty heavy reader but these past couple of years my pace has slowed down to a crawl. Just got an ebook reader and I'm going to make up for lost time!

My goal is to read 52 novels this year. The following is a list of what I've read and am currently reading.

The List:
1 - Wheel of Time : New Spring By Robert Jordan
2 - I am Legend by Richard Matheson
3 - Exhalation by Ted Chiang
4 - The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula LeGuin
5 - Norwegian Wood (reading) by Haruki Murakami
6 - Hunger Games (reading) by Suzanne Collins
