much more maintainable and cleaner. The problem is it doesn't work in ADE, but that's ADE's problem and bug, and I won't degrade the coding to satisfy ADE, at least for something that's not essential.
Doesn't work with Kindle either.

Obviously, since ePub doesn't work with Kindle (and the Mobipocket format doesn't support any form of CSS).

You probably mean that Kindlegen does not handle "font-variant: small-caps" in any way. But if I remember correctly Calibre can transform it into something like your code when converting ePub to mobi.

I've attached the full font family for Charis SIL and I've also included the full small-caps family as well. This will give the results you want in your ePub eBooks.
