Instructions
This is how I did it:
1. copy the above text in to a file and name it update.sh 2. Add update.sh to the update.zip file. 3. Boot to recovery using either the serial method (at uboot command type run user_boot) or press the Menu and home key for 10 seconds. 4. Let it wipe you PE and recover all partitions and do a factory install. 5. Enjoy your fully functional PE. :-) (edit I attached the file as update.zip.txt - Rename to update.sh) -- Jim Last edited by perldude69; 10-29-2011 at 04:43 PM. Reason: Changed update.zip to update.sh |

so just replace this in a full 230 mb pe dingo *renamed update.sh not update.zip and we are good to go. so the update.zip crc are removed.
I will try menu/rotate first and if fails I will do serial with debugging text. so I do not have to do: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...3&postcount=37 ? Last edited by vicinc; 10-29-2011 at 03:13 PM. |

In update.zip, there is a file names update.sh. This is the file to replace inside of update.zip. (Good luck!) -- Jim Last edited by perldude69; 10-29-2011 at 03:25 PM. Reason: Forgot something again! |

I hope this works for everyone. Now that I have my wifes PE running again, she has forbidden me from trying any more "funny stuff" with it
I won't be able to help much with troubleshooting using mine as a test subject . I can't wait for Woot to put them on sale again. -- Jim |

Have you tried rewriting the partitions?
//Restore regular boot tftp 0x7D00000 ramdisk.android.gz.crc nand erase 0x1200000 0x140000 nand write 0x7D00000 0x1200000 0x100000 //Restore boot_user (PE Restore Mode) tftp 0x7D00000 ramdisk.maint.gz.crc nand erase 0x1300000 0x700000 nand write 0x7D00000 0x1300000 0x6C0000 reset run boot_user |

Ubuntu:
1. sudo apt-get install xinetd tftpd tftp xinetd 2. Create /etc/xinetd.d/tftp and put this entry: service tftp { protocol = udp port = 69 socket_type = dgram wait = yes user = nobody server = /usr/sbin/in.tftpd server_args = /tftpboot disable = no } 3. Make /tftpboot directory sudo mkdir /tftpboot sudo chmod -R 777 /tftpboot sudo chown -R nobody /tftpboot 4. Start tftpd through xinetd sudo /etc/init.d/xinetd start Extract the update.zip and copy the files ramdisk.maint.gz.crc and ramdisk.android.gz.crc into the /tftpboot folder execute the commands above. For Windows, here is a TFTP server to dpwnload: http://tftpd32.jounin.net/tftpd32_download.html - Good luck! |

Connect both the USB and the Serial cable. Run the commands in the terminal session.

When you connect, set the IP address of the new network connection to 192.168.2.100.
I forgot this step...... Sorry. In Windows, the tftp command causes a new device to be found that is an Intel null modem device. I haven't found drivers for it. In Linux, it is automatically recognized. You just need to give it the ip address so it can communicate with the PE USB modem thingy. -- Jim |
