I am sure it would amuse you to write a forward. It could be as simple as a favorite quote from each story and we know you are good at picking them out.

Worst case, we would all read your forward and perhaps even chortle a bit.

Helen. I don't believe that there's yet enough content yet available for a publisher to be interested in publishing a second short story collection yet and besides Jim has already mentioned that he wants one to be published when enough stories are available (the publishing rights also must be available). He's even mentioned a title. IIRC it's either More Jobs or Side Jobs II.

I too have a compiled ePub eBook with the shorts missing from Side Jobs. I know it would sell. But it would also drop the sales for the anthologies with these stories in them.

Not saying you are wrong as I don't know. For myself, I often read anthologies when I am looking for a new author, and I have bought anthologies based on an accreditation in a collection from one author whose books I enjoy thinking it will lead to some other things I enjoy and so far this is the case.

Speaking for myself only, I wouldn't buy an anthology for one story unless I thought I would like most of the rest. For example if a Dresden file story was published in a YA paranormal romance anthology. I would be far more likely to wait for a collection and even more likely to not give a damn. Too many books, too little time

I wouldn't even need a collection. I'd be happy to pay $1.99 a pop for short stories released on their own.

I agree wholeheartedly. I just can't be bothered to pay for a compilation of short stories where I'll only read one or two of them.

I'm sure Jim Butcher already has a compilation of all the new stories (it would hardly be difficult to make) plus tentative covers, but I would definitely love to see a foreword written by the preeminent Dresden fan, our Fearless Leader alansplace. That would just be awesome!

And maybe he does need a cover too.

Cool Ghoul Goblin Collected Hardcover Available Soon!

Quote:
Nov 12, 2013 - Ghoul Goblin Collected Hardcover Available Soon!

We are pleased to present you with an extended preview of The Dresden Files: Ghoul Goblin, here now with the first 13 story and art pages!

This all new original story takes place in the official continuity of the Dresden Files novels, subsequent to the events in Fool Moon, and is co-written by Jim Butcher and Mark Powers, with art by Joe Cooper.

In Ghoul Goblin, Harry heads to a small, isolated Missouri town terrorized by monsters out of the Nevernever. The singularly unfortunate Talbot family has suffered a curse that has decimated their number for generations, and only our hero can save them… that is, if he can survive hostile lawmen, the dark secrets of townsfolk, an ancient guardian spirit, and two deadly carnivores! Can Dresden cleanse the Talbot bloodline of its curse without a blood sacrifice of his own?

This 152-page hardcover graphic novel will be in stores everywhere Nov 26th.

Jim encourages you to go and order it from your favorite bookstore!
ISBN-13: 978-1-60690-438-1
Diamond code: OCT131064

Cool Jim Butcher quotes...

...............
“The skull’s jaws slowly parted like
a snake preparing to strike. “You
who are barely more than an
apprentice—you will die for
mocking me.”

“Yeah. But I will never, ever throw
in with you,” I snarled back. “I
will never be like you or your
precious Master or that nutball
Corpsetaker. So take your offer of
a relationship and shove it up your
schutzstaffel.””
– Jim Butcher, Ghost Story

““We are not going to die."

Butters stared up at me, pale, his
eyes terrified. "We're not?"

No. And do you know why?" He
shook his head. "Because Thomas
is too pretty to die. And because
I'm too stubborn to die." I hauled
on the shirt even harder. "And
most of all because tomorrow is
Oktoberfest, Butters, and polka
will never die.””

“I went over to the ruined building, where
the monster thing was groaning through its
death. I heaved aside a piece of rubble and
pulled a pale blue bathroom rug, stained
with dust and weird purple blood, out of
the wreckage. It was a tiny piece of an
environmental construct, but even so, it
was a serious effort to appropriate it as my
own. My arms shook with weakness as I
lifted the carpet and snapped it once.
Blood and dust flew from it as if it had
never existed, and then I settled it calmly
on flat ground, sat on it, and folded my
legs and my arms in front of me.

“Up, Simba,” I said in my best attempt to
imitate Yul Brynner, and the carpet
quivered and then rose off the ground,
staying as rigid and almost as comfortable
as a sheet of heavy plywood. It rose
straight in the air, and as it did, I gripped
the edges surreptitiously. It wouldn’t do to
have either my enemy or my apprentice get
a glimpse of me flailing wildly for my
balance as the carpet moved. But on the
other hand, I didn’t want to just fall off,
either. I could probably come up with
something to keep me from getting hurt
when I hit the ground, but it would look
awfully bad, and I don’t care how close to
dead he might be; a wizard has his pride.”
