Oppenheim, E. Phillips: Peter Ruff and the Double Four. V1. 5 Sep 2011
Excerpt THERE WAS nothing about the supper party on that particular Sunday evening in November at Daisy Villa, Green Street, Streatham, which seemed to indicate in any way that one of the most interesting careers connected with the world history of crime was to owe its very existence to the disaster which befell that little gathering. Any Oppenheim fans who can add to how this novel of 1912 relates to his novel of 1911, "The Double Four" that someone else made available on MR in 2009? (This book is about twice the page count of the other one and they seem related, but I haven't read either one yet -- who can keep up with MR's contributors! :-)

OK OK I guess I am the only Oppenheim fan :-)
If anyone is interested (according to Internet Archive) this is a US-specific edition of 1912 that linked the previously published "Peter Ruff" (book 1 in this combined pub.) and "Double Four" (book 2 in this combined pub.) So if you already have read "Double Four" from a 2009 Mobile Read posting, the second part of this book should sound familiar. Technically (according to IA and Wikipedia) these are closely linked short story collections not novels. Oh, you're welcome! :-) |

Heh, you aren't the only Oppenheim fan, but apparently there is only one of us for each format
