Ok, so, regarding my earlier thread...it wasn't working because, as someone suggested, when Calibre converts, and specifies a line height, getting that overridden is nearly impossible, so, I will have to reconvert everything at this point.

But, I had a question.

If I have two IDENTICAL css sheets, and, the ONLY difference is that one has (for example) a font size of 1.0em and the other font size of 1.5em. They both have the EXACT same line height (1.2em for example), will both have the exact same amount of space BETWEEN lines of text? In other words. Are the two values (line height and font size) relative to one another?

Well... sort of... line-height tells the browser how much space to use for each line, font-size says how big to make the font. Most of the time you shouldn't need to use line-height (Note: I use CSS daily as a web-programmer... so calibre might be different)

This should help:
http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_dim_line-height.asp

help

sorry, I cannot find how to post a new thread. I have a question ... this error msg was given on attempt to validate

ERROR: June-23-2028pm-xhtml.epub/OPS/epb-di.opf(105): non-standard media-type 'application/x-dtbncx+xml' with no fallback

I compare to other epub books and my entry into the opf seems like all the others. What is wrong? how do I add the fallback?

Again, sorry for posting as a reply.

I can't help you with your content.opf problem, but when you enter a forum there is a wide blue bar with the name of the forum. Just above that on the left there is a small blue bar which says New Thread. Click on that, and away you go.

Could I suggest that you try the ePub forum rather than the Sony forum?

An em is a relative measurement so yes there should be about the same relative amount of space between lines. The best way to understand it is to try a lot of different values and units out and see how it looks. You can try it here:

http://www.w3schools.com/css/tryit.a...-height_number

You can put your own font-size in the box too, just remember to put a semicolon at the end of it.

That's how it renders in HTML, no guarantee that it will be the same on the reader (but in theory it should be).

Great little tool. Is there a way to use that tool with custom fonts?

I think you could. If you put

font-family: "Vollkorn";

in the CSS and you have Vollkorn installed on your computer, it should render properly.

But remember that things could look slightly different on your reader.
