I think when Amazon was focusing on making the device thinner, the SD card slot was sacrificed. I keep a couple Audible books on mine but you're correct, an SD card would be handy for those. Who knows, they may return to SD card storage in the next K iteration.

It's not a deal breaker for me; just a minor inconvenience. My Sansa Clip+ is my main device for audiobooks anyway; and that has a card slot.

It would have plenty of space if they just let you put audible format 2 on the device. The K3 only lets you have format 4.

I used to listen to 2 audible books as well but the android app also rerlquires 4. I hate that because you can't carry many around.
