To turn off the lcd (color) screen, hit the home button (on the bezel, next to the trackball - it's an icon of a house) and then press the large X on the bottom right of the screen. There will be three large icons in the middle bottom of the screen - press the lock icon in the center. That will turn off the lcd screen. To turn it back on, press any of the four buttons on the bezel, around the trackball. Then press the MENU button.

What about turning off the eReader side? This would be a helpful feature.

Well, its pointless to turn off the eReader side. Once the page is rendered, its not drawing any power. I do wish I could lock the buttons on the reader side though. I find myself hitting the buttons by mistake and changing pages.

Either off or locking the buttons would work for me. My concern isn't power, it's the same issues you mentioned, hitting buttons. As it can fold back I want to make sure I can use each side independently.

e-ink side won't react unless you are using the pen so it doesn't matter on that side. LCD turn have been explained above or set your own timeout in the settings menu.
