My wife would disagree. Her Fire is routinely propped in the kitchen displaying a recipe while playing music. We tried a lot of recipe books and databases. In the end, she simply saves the recipes as text documents.

I have about 5 cookbooks on my rooted nook colour and use you tube for recipes all the time.
Works great
