Converting SVG graphics

I've got an epub that won't work on my Sony Reader due to it having lots of large SVG files. Is there an easy way to overcome this with Sigil, or do I need to bite the bullet and convert each file to jpg and edit the HTML for each one?

Thanks,
navels

That, while cruel, was hilarious.

well I'm sure you can do the conversion on the command line, code edits via search&replace in sigil, then you just need to exchange a bunch of files in the epub itself.

Depending on how the book is formatted, you might get decent results by converting the ePub to MOBI with Calibre so that it will rasterize the SVG images. Then convert the MOBI back to ePub.

If the resulting bitmap images still strain your Sony do the conversions again checking the "resize images for PalmOS devices" when doing the ePub>MOBI conversion.

If the original ePub gets too fancy with its text formatting you may find that you need to tweak the final ePub. Most of the time, though, the ePub>MOBI conversion works well without disturbing things.
