Bulwer, Edward: The Coming Race. v1. 24 July 07
There are good writers, there are bad writers, and then there are writers so bad that awards are named for them. Such is the case of Edward Bulwer, Lord Lytton. Known for such lines as “the pen is mightier than the sword” and “It was a dark and stormy night” (sorry Snoopy),

If this were a movie, it would get the Golden Turkey Award.

I actually own a copy of the book. I'm almost ashamed that I love being able to say I own one of the first Science Fiction books ever!.
The general story idea is fantastic and would make a fantastic film but would have to be heavily re-written.
The book 'almost' gives the impression of a Dyson sphere/shell type environment(?) which is interesting.
