Either use Mobipocket Creator, Publisher edition (free from mobipocket.com) or email to your Kindle's email address for conversion by Amazon.

You can convert the document into PDF format, it will be easier to read. Word 2007 allows you to do that.

You could 'print' to PDF. I use the free version of Primo PDF. There are other ones out there though. I wouldn't suggest using Word to save the doc as html as Office creates some horrible code when doing that and I'm not sure how it would render...

Before converting to PDF you'll want to reformat the DOC file in Word so that it has zero margins and appropriate font size relative to the chosen page size. If the DOC is formated for nice printing on letter sized paper it will yield a PDF that is rather painful to read on a small display if its readable at all.
If the DOC file doesn't contain images or complex formatting, converting to MOBI will yield an easier to read document. You could save as RTF and use Calibre to convert to MOBI.
