Adams, Herbert: The Chief Witness. V1. 22 Feb 2011
Herbert Adams (1874–1958) was an English writer of fifty 'cosy' mystery novels, mostly featuring the detective Roger Bennion, which were often set in or around golfing competitions. He also wrote short stories, humorous verse and two other mystery novels under the pseudonym Jonathan Gray.
"IT has always been my view," said Sir Christopher, "that what we call coincidences are generally the normal working of natural laws. We now find that the strange coincidence of the suicide of the two brothers was neither suicide nor coincidence. It was just a devilishly clever scheme of murder."
