Sure, because Chrissy Matthews and Keith Olbermann aren't smirking talking head on the other side of the spectrum. No less biased, no less annoying.

I thought this kind of conversation was not allowed except in the specific parts of the forum set aside for politically charged posts, or does that only apply to those who might criticize the political Left?

Yes, because grammatical mistakes only ever slip by on Fox...

Liberals must be the idiots because they need Michelle Obama and the city of San Francisco to tell them what to feed their kids, the Department of Education to ensure their children can read, the government to provide them with health care and tell them what medical treatments they deserve, and pretty much want a cradle to grave governmental nanny wiping their butts their entire life. Guess what? My family and I get along just fine without you.

I suppose you all think MSNBC, CNN and the NY Times are impartial and reliable sources of news. I recently finished Grey Lady Down and it was a sad and pathetic tale. Bernard Goldberg's Bias was another good read from several years ago.

I see all the posts here and always keep my mouth shut, but this just broke the dam.

I guess I'm a scary person with a lack of sanity. I've read all the books mentioned and more. I don't always agree with them, especially Ann Coulter, but I have to admit she's a great writer who will always make me laugh.

I will end with a selection of my favorite Jefferson quotes, which I'm sure the liberals will all deride. For people who think they are the intelligentsia they don't actually read a lot of history.

To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits.

Very well said Marcy!

Supposedly politically chagred comments are only supposed to be allowed in a specific part of the forums set aside for them. Obviously the Mods don't care as long as the political opinions being posted are in line with theirs. I fully expect to be "warned" by the Moderators for my responses to the left-wing comments made through this thread, the ones the Mods do not see fit to address in the first place.

But hey, double standards are a hallmark of liberalism so I'm not surprised. After it's the Left who preaches tolerance, as long as you agree with them.

I try to keep my politics to myself on this forum. Politics get ugly quick, and I'd rather focus on e-reading here.

What is this thread about?

What is this thread about?? I looked back at the beginning and it was ereaders vs. paper books.

Personally, I always thought the book was the story or the knowledge being presented. The medium was just how it was presented. Whether it is glossy paper, non-glossy paper, news print, electronic or even audio, the words are the same and they, to me, are the "book."

I do find electronic very convenient, whether at home or not. It's easy to carry and easy to buy books. What's not to like?

I've been reading electronically since the Palm III. Now it's on a Moto Bravo cell phone or my PC. I would like a dedicated ereader with its long battery life, but none will fit in a dress shirt pocket (my criteria). I know all the ladies can carry their Kindle, Nook or Sony in their purse, but where am I going to stow it? I'm probably one of the few people who would like a smaller reader for easier carrying.

great! I'll think of a few of them to take with me in case of a bad trip like Tom Hanks underwent in Cast Away. his "pager" was the first thing to go down...

other than that, I can always count with some power outlet...

not at all. A pocket is also my criteria.

I also used to like pocket books...

The power goes out. I go to the kitchen and grab a flashlight and/or candles. I keep reading.

Your battery dies out. Your 650 no longer works.

I have candles and flashlights. I'm still reading.

guess one can make cases for each. In the case of a Kindle, you have long battery life but the need for external light!

and what if your candles and flash light die out? Just get some sleep!

what a wonderful forum...

I had a horrible night last night. I mistakenly left my Kobo at work.

Thank God I'm a format converter (is that the right term?) and I had one of the books I was reading at home in pb. But when I got to work this morning my reader was out of power from being on all night. So I'm having a horrible day today.
