large screen reader for pdfs

Hi All,
I'm looking at reading pdfs only (but maybe doc files but not important and easily converted to pdf). Mainly multiple column scientific papers and some text books, technical manuals etc.
None of the pdfs I current have use DRM protection. And colour although nice is not a major concern.

So at the moment I'm trying to decide between the Kindle DX and the Pocketbook 902 ... I'd prefer the pocket book due the the extra flexibility it appear to provide but the Kindle has the pearl display - is there a significant difference between the displays?

is there a clear winner for my use between these two readers, or another I should also consider.

Thanks

The Kindle has a very nice display but the DXG is hampered when it comes to PDFs. You cannot search, use the dictionary, highlight, or annotate in a PDF on the DXG.

You can on the K3 but not on the DXG.

I don't know much about the Pocketbook so I cannot comment on the device. If you think you need to take notes, bookmark, search and the like I would not get the DXG.

ep121

Hi, I am in the same situation (wanting a devise for reading and organizing all my scientific papers which are in A4 format). The DX is a bit small and makes it difficult to read small writing. I like the new EP121 from ASUS - but not the price. Check it out. You have the disadvantage of the screen not being eINK but on the bright side is is win7 so I expect (?) you could run programs like EndNote on it.

Good luck and let us know if you find a reader for a4 pdfs

Hi there, I too am in the same situation. As far as I can tell the pocketbook 902 or 903 seem to be the best for those looking for a reader with some annotation ability without the price going through the roof.

I like my PB 602. It handles pdfs really well at 6" so I can only imagine the 902 and 903 are much better. The accelerometer lets you flip to landscape mode automatically which is really slick. If you want to annotate, wait for the 903.

You should take a serious look at a DR1000 from former IREX. You can still get them.

Thanks for the reply. I have moved my query to a dedicated post [http://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho....php?t=120572], I'd be grateful for all input
