I did embed a smaller font for the ToC since the built-in fonts are too wide for what was needed. The rest of the book is with the default fonts.

Thanks - this is marvellous. You have solved the problem and, on the way, everyone has taught me a lot about BD. I shall now go an try to format another book (hopefully with less angst).

I'm happy to help in any way I can. if you have any other problems feel free to post about them. Someone may have a solution. I didn't know I was set wrong for the ToC. So even I ended up learning something about BD trying to help you.
