So ebook, ereader, eetc are okay?
They're okay with me too, but my spill chucker complains about ebook, but not e-book, so I put the hyphen in to keep the machine happy. I think it's important to keep machines happy. |

There was actually a novel written fairly recently, AprilHare, where the letter e wasn't used at all. Must have taken some doing, but it sounds right up your street. It'll be on Google, I guess. Must try to dig it out for you. Ch--rs. Neil

Not at all impossible, PoohBear. The book was called 'Gadsby' and published in 1939. You can reeeeeeeeeeeed all about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadsby_%28novel%29

In fact, I just discovered an online version of the e-less book, Gatsby, here: http://www.spinelessbooks.com/gadsby/index.html
The only single use of the letter 'e' is in the introduction where the author promises that he will never use that symbol again. He finds ingenious ways around it. Well worth a look. Neil |

As I said in this, I am not against that which is amongst d and f at start of words..
Just adding a minus is painful (Lipograms: fun!) Last edited by AprilHare; 11-24-2010 at 09:45 PM. Reason: fix up lipogram! |

***As I said in this, I am not against that which is amongst d and f at start of words..
Just adding a minus is painful*** Astounding, how you avoid a symbol that is out of bounds in your last post in this list of thought-swaps, AprilGrandRabbit. You may -- in fact, must -- award your own back with a hardy pat for that. A good wish -- in fact many a good wish in its plural form. Karma to ya. N. Marr |

I agree that you have to get rid of the hyphen. It will play havoc with code etc.
eBook is OK e-book is NOT OK! OK? Whilst we are getting rid of stoopid stuff, why can't we stop the virus of MY thing. MY*&^*&^(this MY)(*&^%$that! It is driving me to distraction. Every F*&^ing website has a MY something! |
