I'm very fond of this book and have tried twice to download it in to my Sony Reader. It refuses to recognise the .rar format. What should I be doing?
I've only had ny reader for four days, so I'm still learning. |

.rar is a format used to compress files into smaller one. You need another app to open this file, you should try 7-zip: http://www.7-zip.org/

I would recommend that uploaders stick to using the "zip" format. Although RAR is slightly more efficient, the advantage of "zip" is that an "unzipper" is built into Windows.

Thanks for explaining it, Hadrien. I'll have a go at decompressing the file.

I agree with Harry. Trying to keep things simple, I try to avoid downloading yet another "tool" from the many available. If it's not available in zip format, I'd probably just format it myself.

Very, very little, if anything. As you know, LRF files are efficiently compressed, anyway. ZIP/RAR can rarely achieve better than a 5% compression of them, if that.
