Cover not showing in new ePub

I created a brand new ePub book in Sigil from a .txt document, added a simple TOC and text formatting throughout the book, then added a cover page .jpg with semantics>cover page added at the very beginning of the book in its own chapter, and a map image .jpg inside in its own chapter further into the book.

I then saved the ePub and imported it into Adiko on my Samsung Calibre (Android 2.1) that I use to read my ebooks.

When I open up the book neither the cover or the map image show up, I just get blue ? boxes in the top left corner where they would go.

I'm hoping maybe someone will know what is happening? I'm new to this, and not knowing css at all, when I searched through the forum I didn't find what I needed (or if I did it went right over my head).

Thanks

A common mistake for those new to Sigil is to get the path wrong, since Sigil automatically stores assets in dedicated directories.

Your cover page will need to have something like
<div><img title="Cover" alt="Cover Image" class="cover" src="../Images/cover.jpg" /></div>

Thanks for the replies, and the welcome.

I had already set the semantics on the jpg, so there is no way to do that again since it would only recognize the last one chosen anyway. I figured out why the images weren't showing up... I had spaces in the names of the files. Once I changed the names of the files and replaced the images with the renamed ones (and added the semantics to the cover image), the images showed up when the ebook was opened in Adiko, however the book cover still doesn't show up in Adiko's bookshelf, only on the first page of the opened file.

A second minor issue is that a second blank page shows up after the book cover, even though the only html within the body section on the page is the img src tag.

Hmm, you posted this while I was writing my post above. Everything looks similar to the above example except that neither the title="Cover" or the class="cover" show up, are they necessary or maybe the problem since they are missing?

Well, I figured out why my cover image didn't show up on the bookshelf thanks to charleski . Seems that the cover image has to actually be named "cover". I had named it after the title of the book

Now I'm down to just the issue of the blank page after the cover image. Once that is solved my book will be perfect!

A typical piece of css for the cover image would be

.cover {
height: 100%;
max-width: 100%
}

Add that to the css file. You don't really need the title attribute.
