Downloading books and music

I was going over an old post about people trapped on a snowbound train for 14 or 15 hours. Then I was looking at another article about downloading ebooks on a Kindle. And that made me think about another possibility. Many readers can also play music. If you could search for and download music, too, you would have a great way to fill a lot of time.

In all probability I wouldn't do it. But the possibility might be appealing to some.

As music sampling and downloads would take more time than just downloading a book the company handling the air time would have to take a cut of each music downloaded.

I've got a 120 GB iPod Classic, and it's almost full. I don't need to download any more to keep me busy.

I learned that lesson the (very!) hard way ... overnight in the international departure area of Chennai (Madras), India airport due to "smog" (from burning garbage), getting home almost 24 hours after clearing Indian exit formalities ... with one book for that entire period!

I have several thousand books on my 505 and 10 gig of chips (mostly OTR) for my mp3 player. As long as my batteries hold out (or there's sun for my solar cell) I'm good.

For some reason, if the tedium goes on too long I need a change of pace. I have ebooks, audiobooks, and music.

Now I can show my true colors. I hate apple for the simple reason that there products are all proprietary. In my line of business, IT, the word proprietary is a curse word.
