In all fairness, there are quite a few regular posters in P&R who are civil and friendly. It's just that their voices often tend to get drowned out by those who feel they must win every argument at any cost. Perhaps it's a reflection of the current state of affairs in American politics, where people no longer discuss what course would be best for the country or which opinions have greater merit, but retreat instead into tribes of like-minded saints for the purpose of doing battle with devils (AKA tribes with different opinions who think they're the like-minded saints battling devils).
