As it's different from the larger ("regular") ones, is there a generic term to search for if I want to get another, but not from Sony?

I believe its a 'micro-USB'.

I also know that my Blackberry 8900 mains charger fits just fine as well.

I would suggest monoprice.com

they have a 3ft cable for a buck here and they have up to 15ft cables for around $2.
