Dropdown authors list

Having in my first uses of calibre added a number of books in which the title and author were transposed the dropdown authors list is filled with book titles instead of authors names.
I have corrected the metadata in the library list OK, but cannot find if it possible to edit the authors list.
Is there any simple way do do this?

If the "Authors list in Calibre shows Title-names, you still have bad Author Metadata for books.

Try this:
Click on the Luggage tag (if the tag browser is not visible)
Expand the Authors list. Find a incorrect (title name) Author and click once (red plus appears)
Those are the book(s) that have that name (if there are more than 1 book, you probably have duplicate titles)

Select a title and Click the edit metadata button at the top.
If the Author, title are interchanged, use the swap button.
Make any other corrections (remember Author Sort (now shows in RED if a mis-match with other rules))
Save.

What he said. Once you fix the metadata, the authors drop down is automatically fixed.

All drop down lists in Calibre Metadata are:
Last one out, un-populate the list

Moral(s):
If you see it.. There is a place that is using it.
If you see a "duplicate", it isn't. There is something (and it can be a space) different between them.

For future use you can switch the author and title field with the click of a button (the yellow arrow between title and author) in the metadata information window. Or you can do it in bulk by selecting all affected books opening the edit metadata window and checking the box Swap title and author. See attached.

Also you can manage all authors by right clicking on authors in the tag browser and selecting "manage authors" see attached.
