Sony has started taking regular orders in Japan for the Huis Remote Controller, the latest product to make it to market through the company's*First Flight crowdfunding platform. The Huis (pronounced "house") remote is a universal control with an e-paper touchscreen that lets you customize the array of buttons the way you want; Sony describes it as a remote that "fits" you. |

We had a fully touchscreen universal remote several years ago - a Phillips Pronto. We found that for watching TV it's really, really annoying to always have to look down at the remote to see what you're pressing. Hard buttons are much better for common tasks. That's why we've got a Harmony Ultimate remote now - the best of both worlds.
That's not to say the Sony remote doesn't look cool of course... Andrew |
