Because the publishers can get away with it?? That's the closest I can come to an answer .... not a very good answer, I'll admit.

Hello Martijn and welcome to MobileRead. You've asked the one of the questions that so many of us have wondered about. Why are some eBooks more expensive than their paper counterparts? Why is one format more expensive than another? Why don't more publishers embrace electronic books? Why do publishers want to cripple books with DRM?

There just aren't any reasonable answers other than "that's the way it is". Kind of like when my parents answered the "why" question with "because I said so".

But, you've also found a group of like-minded people. Feel free to join in any conversation. Tell us about you and the books you like to read. Join our book discussion group. We're finishing up discussion on A Passage to India, and I think we're going to read The Hound of the Baskervilles in December.
