Installation Problem on all 8.x downloads

Trying to install Calibre 0.8.8, I get the message "The installation package could not be opened. Verify . . . . contact the application vendor to verify that it is a valid Windows Installer Package."

I uninstalled Calibre and tried to install, and get the same message.

The same is true of 0.8.6 and 0.8.3.

The same message is also received on my desktop, which still has

I did install Calibre 8.8 on a laptop that belongs to our computer club yesterday.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Bob AKA Thehoocherdog

Your Anti-virus or a download manager corrupted the Install program.
Look at the A/V log to see if it noted any activity involving Calibre....MSI.

(The evil of just letting the A/V *fix* a suspect file in background.I prefer the "Always Ask" option, but that is not a good option for a public(club) PC)
