Sci-Fi has a loss
Forrest Ackerman, a writer and editor credited with discovering the author Ray Bradbury and coining the term "sci-fi", has died, aged 92.

IMHO the SiFi world would have been better had he not discovered Ray Bradbury.

I consider Ray Bradbury an important writer, regardless of what genre he works in.

Bradbury was a bit too "way out" for my tastes, but he certainly was a hugely influential SF author.

Was he influential, or is he influential? Do any school-age children who now discover him in the literature anthologies find him influential? Or - given that one accepts that he has been influential in the past - does that reflect only a past influence? Don |
