Well they are trying different things here is a sub $200 tablet that people would buy for the kids
ARCHOS introduced its GamePad today, the company's first 7-inch Android-powered gaming tablet. The GamePad comes equipped with physical control buttons, joysticks, and a capacitive display, along with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and Mali 400mp quad-core GPU underneath the hood. The GamePad is unlike anything we've seen in the Android world so far, and is more akin to a PSP than a tradition Android tablet. The GamePad comes equipped with Ice Cream Sandwich and access to the Google Play store, though it looks like most will purchase the GamePad strictly for gaming. ARCHOS says that it'll include tools to enable the physical controls to take the place of virtual navigation on current Android games, and will work with developers to design games specifically for the GamePad. We took a look at ARCHOS' latest flagship tablet, the 101 XS, earlier this month, and coupled with the new GamePad, ARCHOS looks to be thinking outside of the box to make a name for itself in the tablet market. The GamePad is scheduled late October release with a pricetag of "less than 150€ (or $188)". ARCHOS' full presser can be found after the break. http://www.androidcentral.com/archos...owered-gamepad |

If they included say - the 1950s when the polar ice cap all but melted - then the ludicrousness of the article becomes undeniable. Damn, I'm freaking old. |

I'm totally buying this later this year. Archos doesn't make the greatest tablets but they are very good about video playback codecs and they do OK on the hardware side (just not fantastic). I think a 5" - 5.5" tablet is doable. I'm not sure if it has the market of a 7" but it might. The Galaxy Note sure is nice in hand - and it works one handed well, at least for my long fingers (unlike a 7" device). Last edited by GreenMonkey; 08-29-2012 at 01:08 PM. |

I think that the market for a 5.5" tablet would be limited, primarily because it will overlap with people who have smartphones.
While there may be a niche market for people without smartphones - kids and adults - I suspect that that niche will probably be filled by something like the iPod touch. So the remaining market of non smartphone non Touch owning people may be too small to make a good tablet in that form factor viable. |

If the polar ice map melted in 1950s, why didn't commercial ships travel through the Northwest and Northeast Passage, saving some 30-40% of their journey time? The first commercial ship to travel the Northwest Passage was back in 2008. 2009 for the Northeast Passage. Traveled from South Korea to the Netherlands http://www.independent.co.uk/environ...d-1786128.html Quote:
I just google and found this from NOAA http://www.ecology.com/2011/09/11/ea...ng-arctic-ice/ I doubt the Arctic was free of ice back in the 1950s. sorry everyone for getting this topic off track. Last edited by Top100EbooksRank; 08-30-2012 at 12:07 AM. |

Think Nexus 7 is a Total Steal? Pipo U1 is $150 and has Jelly Bean Quote:
Dropping NFC and GPS for the 5.5" NEXUS Tablet and the screen size, could Google retail it for $149 in 6 months? |

I believe Samsung is coming out with the next generation of the Note that will be 5.5". Im guessing it wont be available in the US because of the current Apple vs Samsung verdict. I was really wanting the new Note. I had heard the first Note wasnt that good do to some computing power problems.

Was the Galaxy Player 5.8 mentioned during Samsung's IFA event yesterday?
