Hi all
I am a new kobo user.
I share the ereader with my brother.. is it normal that changing user needs resetting the device??
Is there any tip to switch from one library to other? or to show different library of different users?

You can log out of your Kobo Reader account give the Kobo to your brother so he can log into his account on the Kobo reader then sync the reader with Kobo account to load his books. Could let him read books on your reader while it is still set to you account and trust that he will not buy books on your account to read. I trust that brother is reading free books on your reader because your bought e-books are sold to you for only your reading pleasure. Might be legal to read out loud your book to your brother only or is that a public performance?

Signing out of your account and back into another requires a redownload of all the books on the device. No way around that, and no way to set up two active accounts that you can switch back and forth between on the same device at the same time.

Your brother could manage his library using Adobe Digital Editions/Calibre and just sideload the books he wants to read onto your Kobo. If his books are encumbered with DRM then you would need to deauthorise the device and your brother reauthorise it from his Adobe account each time, but I think that can be done without resetting the device.

@Eadward how about you save your books to the main memory ..... and your brother saves his books to the SD card.

Agree on using one of your accounts only as the permanent account, although you will both be buying and acquiring free ebooks under your own accounts.

It's easy enough to side load books onto the Kobo or onto an SD card and inserted into the Kobo.

My experience is that each time you authorize the device, it uses one of your authorizations so you end up talking to Adobe about adding more. If you copy the activation.xml file from the Kobo and then copy it back, saves the trouble of having to reauthorize the device. Have one file for each person and copy as needed.

David

Having to do this, just shows how the stupid DRM systems are still not allowing equality of functionality between digital and real books. This, plus the inability to loan a book to a family member or friend, or sell it to a secondhand book store, are keeping ebooks the poor cousin of real books. It's been quite a long time, and they don't seem interested
in addressing these problems.

The issue stems from having one account for each, for the future when both of us will have its own ereader and its own library.
I don't know what to do now...

So the simplest solution seems to be having a permanent account, then copy the books into.

However this login/logout system is basic and very dysfunctional!
