For Type 1 we do already warn the user that this is an old thread. Of course they can still use it but the warning is there. If you tag all threads read every once and a while and then use the button that takes you to the point where you left off then old threads do little to impede users since they just skip over the older parts. Therefore it really makes no difference for type 1 and type 2. If they were researching a problem and read through an old thread it is ok IMHO to go ahead and post there if it is on topic. There is a wealth of good material in old threads.
I believe type 3 deserves a PM warning and then if they insist they can be banned for a period of time. Dale |
