ibooks to Kobo
Hi,
I'm new to to the forum, so please excuse me if this subject has been addressed before. I would like to buy a Kobo reader, but have an existing (vast) ibook library. I did actually convert this to Kindle via Calibre and the ddm-free(ing) software. Before buying a Kobo, is it also possible to convert the ibooks this way for formatting to Kobo? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Moved to the "Workshop" forum, where such questions belong.

As the iBooks format is essentially an Apple-flavoured ePUB and Kobo supports ePUB, this should be perfectly possible. The only exception would be fixed-layout ePUB and ePUB containing audio/video and alike. Those are often device/vendor specific or not supported on e-ink devices.

Yes, iBook ePubs can be used on Kobo since Kobo reads ePubs.

You can convert your Kindle format easily in Calibre. No need to import iBook pubs again.

If they are iAuthor products, however...that's a horse of a different color altogether, and won't be easily resolved. Good luck. Hitch |

Apple books may require de-drm to work on Kobo but will otherwise be mostly compatible as others have noted. I would recommend using the Apple books and not converting Kindle conversions. Double conversion can lead to unfortunate errors, particularly in formatting.

How can be possible to move book from iBooks to Kobo ?
Which tools are required ? Is it possible to DRM books ? You need to broke DRM or can be "moved to" other device? (Legality can be discussed in my country as personal copies are legal if you own the orginal AND I DO. Some issues can be related to the use of tools...) |

It is not allowed on this forum to discuss DRM removal. No matter what the rules are for your country, this is an international forum. To avoid complications and legal issues, the topic is not to be discussed.
On your question, yes it is possible (and easy) to remove DRM from books. For iBooks it is harder, or so I have heard. |
