FAZ.NET recipe fails due to website redesign

Hello everybody,

one of the best and leading German papers relaunched its website during last weekend, causing the calibre recipe of FAZ.NET to fail. I tried to repair the recipe by substituting the old RSS feed links by the new ones, however this necessary step is not enough. Obviously, the structure of the articles itself has been changed. I wonder if there is somebody out there with enough knowledge to fix the recipe, thus making it work again! Here is the section with the current links which I already updated:

PHP Code:
    feeds = [
              (
'FAZ.NET Aktuell''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Politik''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/politik/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Wirtschaft''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/wirtschaft/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Feuilleton''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/feuilleton/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Sport''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/sport/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Gesellschaft''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/gesellschaft/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Finanzen''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/finanzen/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Technik & Motor''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/technik-motor/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Wissen''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/wissen/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Reise''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/reise/?rssview=1'),
              (
'Beruf & Chance''http://www.faz.net/aktuell/beruf-chance/?rssview=1')
            ]
Many thanks in advance,
Ralph

Wow, that's what I call top notch service! Thanks a lot!

But where do I find the updated recipe? Do I have to wait for the next version of calibre to be released? I'm not aware of a calibre recipe repository. Or did you update the zip archive with the built-in recipes in the current download of calibre?

Sorry for asking those stupid questions...

Yours,
Ralph

Builtin recipes are automatically updated. Just re-run the faz net download using the builtin recipe

Hello,

First of all: Sorry, that my first "contribution" to this great forum starts with a question...

thank you very much for the updated recipe. Your service is very much appreciated.
Maybe it's just me, but I only see the (hyperlinked) headlines of the faz.net news. Clicking them just brings me to other headlines. Does somebody else have that problem.

My calibre version is 0.8.19. but apparently that does matter.

Regards

Kovid told us that the builtin recipes are automatically updated when running calibre. I can verify that the FAZ.NET fix provided by him works perfectly. Make sure that you use the bulitin recipe and NOT a modified version from your personal recipe folder. Try again (preferably after updating to the current version of calibre) and everything should work fine...

Regards,
Ralph

Hmmmmm.
It's very, very odd if updating calibre from 0.8.19 had any impact on this. The current recipe is pulled from a central server before use by all versions of calibre, so it shouldn't have made any difference whether you updated calibre or not. There is a "minimum version required" that can be set in recipes, but it is almost never used, and I've never seen it used for anything other than major version number changes.
