Calibre Linux

Hi,

I really would like to use the Software, because everyone says dont use the Sony program.
I cant afford a new Computer so i installed Linux Mint 9 on my old Laptop. There is a older version in the repository, 0.6.2.
But i would like to have the latest one, or shouldnt I?

I found the download website, clicked the link for the linux version. But from there on i am lost. Only thing i can click is the Changelog...
As one suggested, "...you can find the newest version via the link in the forum description..", but i can't find a Forum Description.

Thats frustrating, i can't even download the software, i wonder if i will ever learn to use it.

thanks for a guideline on linux....(altough i am not so new to linux...)

I run Mint 9 as well. To install the latest Calibre version, type the following in a terminal:
Code:
sudo python -c "import urllib2; exec urllib2.urlopen('http://status.calibre-ebook.com/linux_installer').read(); main()"
This will download and install Calibre (in /opt).

That's what I use (& have used for ages) on Mint 7+ (now 10RC).
The one that is in the repositories is too old. ;-(

I saved it to a script and just run the script when a new version is released.
