Unofficial iRex iLiad repository online

Update (OS 2.5): We'll have to put this on ice until there's a way again for mere mortals to access the innards of the iLiad

We finally have our unofficial (aka not supported by iRex company) repository to feed binary files which are or might be compatible with the iRex iLiad device. It's meant as a playground for iLiad hackers and adventurous iRex user who actively follow our hacking discussions. Beware though: there is currently no way to revive your device in case of severe hacking damages, except for sending it back to the iRex headquarters.

The repository can be accessed directly at the following URL: http://iliad.mobileread.com/feed/

Please reply to this thread if you can provide iLiad hacks or tools and still need upload access.

Thanks to arivero for assisting me to set this thing up.

I understand that the goal is that people creates .ipk packages to be attached in the "hacking" subforum and these move automagically to the feed. Isn't it?

Yup that's the ulimate goal.

It will require us to code a program that automatically checks for new attachments in the hacking forum, see if it's a ipk package, and then add it to the feed repository.

Until then, FTP access for iRex hackers should work fine.

Starting tomorrow, we'll also have a cronjob that automatically generates the necessary Package file from all uploaded ipk's.

We should document a little bit all this, for the people coming new or simply for the ones unable to find the old threads.

rxvt_2.7.9-r1_arm.ipk was, if I remember well, a xterminal aplication, probably needing ncurses. I am not sure is ipkg tool is still there in 2.7, and if the packages are still compatible.

xrandr is the rotation of the screen, not so needed now that pdf rotates itself, but still useful to people willing to use the iLiad as a second Xserver of a host machine.

Someone told that a mp3 player from Zaurus was working straightly, I think that from the line interface. Any idea which one it was?

EDITED: It was in the thread on Zaurus compatibility that kristoffer told to be able to use a MP3 program from Zaurus in the iLiad.

ipkg tools is still there and extensively used by iRex themselves.

Code:

ipkg: ipkg must have one sub-command argument
