iOS Plugin Issue
Bug description:
Calibre v2.3 64bit Windows 8.1 64bit I have an iPad mini that I'm trying to use to read my ebooks. I am using the Kindle App. I installed the iOS plugin and set it up for use with the Kindle app. However, when I plug my iPad in, the following error appears in Calibre: Unable to connect to iDevice The message pops up repeatedly and the only way to close the error message is to close the Calibre program entirely. Also, when I navigate to Preferences>Miscellaneous with the iPad plugged in, I receive the following error: calibre, version 2.2.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>ZipImportError</b>:can't find module calibre.gui2.preferences.misc Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\preferences\main.py", line 283, in show_plugin File "site-packages\calibre\customize\__init__.py", line 642, in create_widget File "importlib\__init__.py", line 37, in import_module File "site.py", line 66, in load_module ZipImportError: can't find module calibre.gui2.preferences.misc This prevents me from running the Debug tool with the iPad plugged in. However, I ran it anyway, with the iPad unplugged. The output is below: calibre 2.3 [64bit] isfrozen: True is64bit: True Windows-8-6.2.9200 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '8', '6.2.9200') Python 2.7.8 Windows: ('8', '6.2.9200', '', 'Multiprocessor Free') Successfully initialized third party plugins: iOS reader applications USB devices on system: [u'usb\\vid_8087&pid_0024&rev_0000', u'usb\\root_hub20&vid8086&pid1e2d&rev0004', u'usb\\vid_064e&pid_e374&rev_0202&mi_00', u'usb\\root_hub20&vid8086&pid1e26&rev0004', u'usb\\vid_064e&pid_e374&rev_0202', u'usb\\vid_0bda&pid_0129&rev_3960', u'usb\\vid_8087&pid_0024&rev_0000'] Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\devices\scanner.py", line 85, in __call__ DriveError: No removable drives found Drives detected: No disabled plugins Looking for devices of type: MTP_DEVICE The Windows WPD service says there are no portable devices connected Looking for devices... I tried the debug tool again and was able to start it with the iPad plugged in, but it failed with the following error:

I am having the same problem.
Win7 64bit SP1 iPhone 4s iOS8 I tried a different tack. I started Calibre with the phone connected and no iOS plugin installed. The program popped up a window requesting I install the iOS Reader and Marvin plugins. When I attempted to activate the iOS plugin, the following error popped up: calibre, version 2.3.0 ERROR: Install Plugin Failed: A problem occurred while installing this plugin. This plugin will now be uninstalled. Please post the error message in details below into the forum thread for this plugin and restart Calibre. Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\dialogs\plugin_updater.py", line 712, in _install_clicked File "site-packages\calibre\customize\ui.py", line 383, in add_plugin File "site-packages\calibre\customize\ui.py", line 550, in initialize_plugin InvalidPlugin: Initialization of plugin Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\customize\ui.py", line 544, in initialize_plugin File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.__init__", line 907, in initialize File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.__init__", line 1236, in _get_connected_device_info InitialConnectionError: Unable to connect to iDevice failed with traceback: Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\customize\ui.py", line 544, in initialize_plugin File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.__init__", line 907, in initialize File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.__init__", line 1236, in _get_connected_device_info InitialConnectionError: Unable to connect to iDevice Any suggestions? |
