According to that error message that EPUB is corrupt. Are you able to open it in another EPUB viewer such as ADE or editor like Sigil?

hi, downloaded Sigil and tried it with a few recently downloaded books and all give the same message: Sigil was unable to load your file.
---------------------------
..\..\..\main_code\src\Sigil\Importers\ImportOEBPS .cpp(112): Throw in function void __thiscall ImportOEBPS::ExtractContainer(void)
Dynamic exception type: class boost::exception_detail::clone_impl<struct CZipExceptionWrapper>
std::exception::what: Unknown exception
[struct zip_iCause *] = 220
[struct zip_info *] = The central directory was not found in the archive (or you were trying to open not the last volume of a segmented archive).

Tried with a previously converted file and Sigil can read it.
Recent books are from various sources.

The EPUB is corrupt, damaged or invalid as an archive.
