Sony uses Chrome as default browser

News: TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Sony Corp. (6758.TO) said Tuesday that all of its Vaio-brand PCs sold in the U.S. are using Google Inc.'s (GOOG) Chrome as their default Web browser, in a tie up that could help the search engine giant challenge Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) dominant Internet Explorer.

Commentary: As Sony gets cozy with Google and purposefully distances itself from Microsoft, a further logical step down this path might include putting Android Operating System on a Reader and then making access to some Google Books available to Android OS only.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Chrome is now my browser of preference, even though it still lacks a lot of the bells and whistles of Firefox.

IMO, for simplicity and speed, I've found none better.

i've got nothing at all against chrome. i use it myself, frequently. and it seems to be appreciably standards-compliant, and that's what counts.

I like Chrome too and was using it as my default browser. Then I installed a Microsoft product (Visio) and Chrome stopped working--just wouldn't open at all. Coincidence?

If you like webkit, check out Safari. It's a bit more advanced than Chrome.

This is highly unlikely to happen. Google are not going to restrict their books to a single OS.

And Sony preload all their PCs with Windows so this "news" is rather insignificant.

I have been with Opera since version 5. This morning, logging in, my v10 Beta 3 finally updated to full version of 10.

Opera 10 is now released, and no longer in beta stage. I love it.

Huh?

Care to explain why (sensibly :-)?

I use both, and while both are decent webkit browsers, Safari is simply a little more polished, since it's been around a bit longer.

Safari on OSX is great, Safari on Windows, at last I saw, it was buggy.
